Benetton

Process optimization and total control over the orders handling in transit in Romania and related costs

Benrom srl is the operating company controlled by the Benetton Group in Romania and established in 2005 in order to improve the control of the processing flow by the external laboratories in the country. There are 2 major logistics poles (Sibiu and Iasi), respectively for the processing of wool and cotton, and about 60 laboratories or outside contractors distributed throughout the territory, who carry out production steps or cycles. This enables the company to manage a total volume of 40 million clothing items a year, ensuring Benetton Group direct control on orders production and handling.

THE NEEDS

  • Creation of an integrated system, which is able to manage the two Romanian sites' orders handling in real-time: so in this way it is possibile to maintain the control over the operational flow, as well as over the semi-processed and finished products.
  • Organize and analyze the flow of incoming data from Italy to Romania, allowing integration among Benind, the industrial party, and Benrom Ltd., which is its subsidiary.

THE SOLUTION

Benrom was supported by Artinfo, a subsidiary of Arti Informatiche, as regards to the implementation of the management system Ideale 2005. The first phase of work viewed the centralization of the server platform at the server farms in Italy, which allowed the project to be realized in just six months.

Now Benrom can:

  • maintain control and traceability of the whole production flow orders in Romania
  • monitor all movements of loading and unloading and related processing costs, allowing the staff to focus on process optimization and non-compliance inspections.

Secondly a reporting tool was introduced with the goal of making company independent as regards to the directional reports production or to the orders in progress.

Thanks to the use of process schedulers in order to ensure immediate reporting in the case studies, defined as critical by the company, the controls automation was finally optimized.

THE BENEFITS

The use of Ideale 2005, with the assistance of Art Info, has given Benrom Ltd

  • total control over the orders handling in transit in Romania and related costs

The process optimization has increased the company's competitivity, aboveall because of the capacity to produce an ever-increasing number of manufactured items.
